Aside from its tropical climate Cuba is not a paradise and it is a country with many problems. However it is being cast in a light that it does not deserve by right wing Americans and such ignorance compounds Cuba's problems. Castro replaced Baptista's rule by force of arms but how else, pray tell, could an arsehole like Baptista be removed? The lands of the big sugar and coffee plantations were confiscated to provide for domestic citizens at the expense of American corporations and rich landowners, but that was a half a century ago and done for the benefit of the downtrodden population. Messy and maybe not nice but necessary! Get over it!
Years ago when the USA constantly complained that Castro was keeping dissidents in insane asylums and prisons, Cuba opened those doors and sent any dissidents to American shores. The crime rate in the Miami area went through the roof thanks to these grateful refugees and the USA Coast Guard started sending back boatloads of people daring to enter American waters. Some made it back to Cuba and some did not.
Some of the thinking behind this is so stupid as to be incomprehensible but Fox news and continues to spout garbage that is eagerly devoured by the political far right. It is a shame that many and I believe most Americans who think otherwise have a problem being heard!
