I am an irish dancer, and I think its absolutely ridiculous when people say that competition is bad for a child! What kind of whimpy kids are you raising? The only winners in life ar those who have discipline and know how to work hard, which are two very important factors in any type of success (sports, school, careers). Why wouldn't you begin teaching that to a child at a young age? I completely agree with Donna. Just so you know "michaelr", the musicians at our events are very talented, and also lovely people! I understand that some dancers go overboard with fake tanning and over the top wigs, but who cares? To each their own! If you have nothing nice to say about irish dancing, dont say anything at all. It is one of the most technically challenging dances that exists, so until you try it, stuff it!
