Yes, your Dutch friend is grateful. Not "very", don't over-do it, but with all the documentation about what happened and what caused it, there's preciously little on how it happened. Songs like this show a bit of what lies beyond the history (which, of course, was written by the victors), how it was for ordinary people to invade our country.
In my opinion, those who remember history are doomed to repeat it; it's only those things that allow looking beyond history that may help us to avoid that trap.
As far as I can find it's indeed written as propaganda music, ordered by Goebbels. However, all proceeds for this title and all other songs Norbert wrote during the Nazi-era, including Lied eines jungen Wachtpostens, now go to the German Red Cross. Something good to come out of all of that.
