Subject: RE: Tech: Copyright Rules According to YouTube
I don't think the YouTube bit will answer the big questions, and doesn't say a lot about the variabilities in the laws, but the little video and "training program" bits are "campy enough" to be sort of cute.

With the number of people we have posting (and swiping?) YouTube videos, it should be interesting to have some idea of how YT is trying to confuse the situation(?).

For those who haven't been interested enough to check out the link, there is a short embedded (doesn't take you elsewhere) video at the top of the page that the article (poorly) presents as an example of "fair use" as Google sees it. This part is sort of confusing because the explanation is, as I think the YT users might describe it, "totally lame."

A second embedded video is described as "the training video that offenders will be required to view" if a (perceived by YouTube) infraction causes removal of a post. There's also a link to a "test" that might be required.

The real message, assuming there is one, is an encouragement for people to post more original videos using their own original music. (I think.)
