Society has become so compartmentalized and fragmented that each lonely neighbor is secretly or opely at odds with each other neighbor and only bonds with on or two on occasion to bitch about a different neighbor. The result of this lifestyle is a alienated community that does not itself or each other. Walk alone. work alone. You could punish neighbors by ostracising them, but sometimes there is so little community there is no one to truely do any ostracising.

It leads to heart disease.

Japan has a more communal life style and may have less heart disease for that reason as well as the fish diet.

I have seen the lord of the flies rumor machine actively seek to cause neighbors ahrm. I have seen neighbors violate the first law of robots. Ehtnic purity, fundamentalism, bigotry or plain ol simple RUDENESS which leads to more of the same in retribution.


I be a good ol bacchanal or burning man party or bon fire or block party would help. But then again I have seen how block parties can serve the rumor traders more than the bond makers.

I guess the best cure would be a sing along.
