As others have noted, you have really done some impressive research on "Reply".   I am amazed the poem comes from 1865--I would have thought bitterness from the war would not have allowed the sort of sentiment in "Reply" so soon.    It seems much more from the 1920's or so--the generalized anti-war feeling and disillusion about war--but no hate for the victors.
