Filey Folk Festival returns next weekend to the festival calendar after a 4 year absence. Its based at the Station Pub, Church Street, in Filey, a venue that lends itself perfectly for a good intimate festival like Filey's. There's a small amplified concert stage for pre booked acts, but also for players arriving for the weekend on spec to get up and do a few tunes after midnight until 2 in the morning. Not only that, there will be a marquee covered beer garden and another 2 sectioned rooms at the pub to allow singing/jamming/sessions to continue all day and night even while concert performances are on. Also the landlord's Andy & Andy are laying sandwiches on for ALL players (around teatime on the Saturday & Sunday).

The new organiser of the event has never organised a 'Folk' festival before - and judging by the concert line up it could have a more contemporary feel than previous Filey Folk Festival's. That said, there are some cracking, up and coming acts booked - Pilgrims Way & Rebekah Findlay (both recently featured on Mike Harding's Folk Show), Scarborugh's Joe Solo, Jesse Hutchinson and Amaya & Alistair Huntly. Whitby's Richard Grainger, Wendy Arrowsmith and North Yorkshire 'supergroup' Fiddlyn Man Doris.

There is also 'Guitar' George Bates, despite only being 12 years old, got noticed after a splendid rendition of Bob Dylan's 'She Belongs To Me'.

So bring an instrument or a voice on Friday 29th April to Sunday 1st May 2011, it's the return of the Filey Folk Festival - Sun, Sea, Hobgoblin ale and a hell of a lot of good music.
