But they didn't matter in the way she was trained. She was trained and treated in the same way as a Japanese woman who wanted to be a geisha. There are some differences in things like how she and a Kyoto-trained geisha tie an obi (kimono sash) and how long the period until her debut was. But those are differences in tradition- she's still a geisha.
