Mostly useless, redundant, unecessary information.

You can right click and select "Open in New Window" or "Open in New Tab."

If you have a "wheel mouse" with a scroll wheel, pushing down on the wheel to "click with the wheel" will open the link in a New Tab (or new Window if that's how your browser is set up).

The only hazard with this method is that a very sensitive wheel setting may also scoot you over to an adjacent link if they're really close together, if you don't press straight down. But Murphy said, I'm told: "ya ain't lost if ya don't care where yer at," and "ya can't get lost if ya don't care where yer goin'."
