Sad you've chosen Donnybrook over Dingle. The Dingle Peninsula (rather than the town) would seem to offer many opportunities for a "Song for Ireland" moment:-
If time constraints mean you can't get far from Dublin, the coast north and south and Dublin Bay itself have many attractions. Further inland Glendalough and the Wicklow Mountains are worth a visit.
