Well , two more verses are needed for this song. Two of Maine Gov. LePage's chief appointments were forced to resign yesterday.

One was Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection in violation of State and Federal rules that prohibit someone assuming that office who worked for a company which in the last year received more than 10% of its income from environmental licensing consulting, and Daryl Brown's consulting firm specialized in that kind of work. But he was shifted over to the State Planning Office as a consolation. Now the Governor is trying to get the rule repealed.

The other was his Commissioner for Economic & Community Development who in a recent speech in our huge rural northern County of Aroostook proclaimed to the Caribou Chamber of Commerce that it's economic problems wouldn't be resolved until "they got off the reservation and got to work," affirmative action was repealed, and parents provided their school children "their own breakfast." Philip Congdon was summarily dismissed by the Governor the next day, as only our Governor can make such outrageous statements. Congdon is a former executive with Texas Instruments and never claimed to know much about Economic & Community Development but he proved to be a quick study! But it was his concept of "the trickle down economy" which really pissed some of us off.

You just can't make this stuff up as fast as it's happening in real time!
