I went to the Baltic Fleet tonight. Some very good singing and great songs, although hard to hear the talky part from the back, so I didn't really hear who was who. The guy who sang Jolly Bold Robber did a great job, I thought.

I have to say, because there was talk of a singaround, I was expecting it to be a little more of an actual singaround. That's not to criticise what was done, it was definitely a not-especially-formal celebration in which we heard a variety of the people involved with the shanty festival. Nevertheless, when something's advertised as a singaround, you do kind of expect more of a general involvement, going around the room and listening to a range of different people, and that's not what we got. It was more of what I'd call an informal concert; people standing behind a PA (necessary because of the noise level), with performers and audience congregating as separate groups.

Hope that doesn't sound too much like I'm having a gripe - just wanted to comment that perhaps singaround wasn't the best term to use.
