Having actually read the article in its entirety and the linked Lincolnshire article too, rather than undergoing a violent knee jerk reaction to the headline, I came across the government response.

""However we will not remove statutory protections for allotments or any frontline services.""

What I gleaned from the whole was that allotments were on a list of statutory Council duties and that some items (as yet unspecified) on that list would be removed.

Nowhere was there any indication that allotments would be among that number, and indeed that was confirmed by the government's response.

It seems to me two hacks handed you all a nice little partisan factoid to play with, and you all happily jumped in without applying any rational or critical thought to the so-called "evidence".

Inventing spurious "crimes" which have no basis in fact renders the inventors ridiculous and undermines the credibility of any sensible comment from them in the future.

Still, since government bashing is the only sport remaining for Labour supporters, do have fun with it.
