Perhaps there's an American link to 3x20+10. American choral composer wrote the Shepherds' Carol which begins:

Methinks I see an heav'nly host.
Of angels on the wing.
Methinks I hear their cheerful notes.
So merrily they sing

Delf may well have been familiar with this, especially if he had a chapel connection.
