When I first worked for HP (Computers - Not Sauce, OK!) They were an ethical company. The local council (Cheadle, Chesire) wanted HPs NW England offices there so offered them a site in Cheadle Heath. Right on some allotments.

Allotment owners up in arms of course. Bit American mega-corporation stealing land from us! The media had a field day. Until HP pointed out that they were not bothered at all where they went and it was the council who wanted then there. What was more, HP paid for and moved the allotments, soil, sheds, produce, everything, to a site that the owners agreed on, laid on water and electricity to the new site and gave it to the owners rent free for 10 years.

Just goes to show what a bit of publicity can do - even if it is aimed at the wrong people! HP wouldn't do it now of course. But maybe I am only bitter after being made redundant by them. Twice :-)
