That's what hoar means - cold as in hoar frost. A hoar frost is one of those that you very rarely get in the city, one where every leaf has an edge of frost, and it looks like someone sprinkled sugar on the grass. Each blade has a crisp white edge, and the spider webs are like spun icicles, the sort of day that makes your breath inwards catch in your throat, and every breath outwards is accompanied by a plume of vapour.... the sky is uniformly grey or blue glass, and the road under your footfalls goes spang..... heck I miss a good frost!LTS
