Thread Name: Lyr Req: Waltzing on the Boardwalk in Asbury Park
Subject: Lyr Add: WALTZING ON THE BOARDWALK IN ASBURY PARK
Learnt from the singing of Lois Lyman, in Maine, years ago.
Can't swear to accuracy, but it's pretty close. Lois knows great songs, and writes them, too.

WALTZING ON THE BOARDWALK IN ASBURY PARK

My parents waltzed on the boardwalk,
In Asbury Park late one spring
While my sisters and I watched, embarrassed,
Amazed they would do such a thing.

And they waltzed around on the boardwalk,
As the sunlight set on the sea,
They waltzed to the tune of the merry-go-round
In front of my sisters and me.

Sometimes my parents would quarrel.
They would argue and throw things and curse,
But they never stopped loving each other,
So, I guess things could have been worse.

Someday I hope to get married
To someone with some virtues, some faults.
Sometimes we'll laugh; sometimes we'll cry,
But when we're on a boardwalk, we'll waltz.

Like they waltzed around [etc.]
