If so, why is it called PRINCE William's March?

Because, leenia, he was Prince William, Duke of Cumberland;

akin to Queen Elizabeth's husband being Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and the newly-married Prince William, Duke of Cambridge.

Good tune, btw- not come across it before.
