I won't pay good money for Microsoft Office when there is plenty of less bloated software out there for free. I use Lotus Symphony and Wordpad and Copy of MS Works that came with a computer we bought 7 years ago. I do interact with Office users. I just have to remember to save to a format that Office can read before I send back the completed work.

BTW, the browser you use has NOTHING to do with interoperability.
