Ah, well now, when you get to the cricket/football double, it is the Compton Bros, Leslie & Dennis, Arsenal & Middlesex, & England for both, who shone. Esp Dennis, who held many Wisden records in his time. I saw them play both games too, of course, to add to above list. They were also from my part of London ~~ born in Hendon, went to Bell Lane school, the primary school just round the corner from Hendon County, my secondary school, whose 1st XI goalkeeper I was during 2 seasons, 49-50. Dennis Compton's main Middx & England batting partner, Bill Edrich [according to wiki their partnership total has still never been surpassed] also played soccer for Spurs & Norwich City. He took one of the best deep catches on the boundary that I ever saw, against the Australians at Lords in, I think, 1946.
