I first saw The Halliard at The Boat Inn, Matlock, Derbyshire in 1968. I'd previously been in a semi-pro rock band, ended up in a folk group called Saga. Consequently booked Nic Jones at a couple of folk clubs I was involved with up until around 1980. Taped a few of the sessions also. Rate him up there alongside Martin Carthy.
