I went back and checked The Nova Scotia Song Collection and Germain definitely has it as "shores". Perhaps Germain changed the song after he gave it to Dorey or perhaps Dorey changed it himself.
Germain recorded it after Dorey did on "16 Great Canadian Country Artists (Banff RDS-1265)" according to the book.
