Philosophical pedantry: "Some of us knew" as against "some of us thought" - the problem with that distinction is that, when you really get down to it, we don't "know" anything, we just think we know it.

It's rather like complaining when people don't bother to say "in my opinion" when they are stating their opinion.

We add those kind of flourishes to what we say as a matter of politeness, not logic.l Politeness matters of course, but that's another thing.
