All depends on what drives you, doesn't it? I can see great performers at my local folk clubs for a maximum of £10 in an intimate setting, and I rarely go to large concerts.

However, when I discovered a few years ago that Leon Redbone was making a single appearance at a converted cinema in Waterford - tickets £25 a time - I was so keen to see him in person that I booked myself and partner flights from Gatwick to Dublin, a hire car and a Waterford hotel for the occasion. As we were going so far, we thought we'd make a longer stay of it and stayed in Waterford for 3 nights.

Total cost? Several hundred pounds - all started just by wanting to see Leon Redbone in person - but it was worth it!
