It's not that different from playing DADGAD, ,open D, Keith Richard's banjo tuning or any other open tuning.
Steel guitar players manage to play a reasonable range of chords starting with an open tuning, and some of us can even do minors, sevenths, ninths etc.
Botswana Ronnie does stick to the single chord, with extensions on the fifth, seventh and eighth frets, but that is not unusual in non-western music.
Are not some remarks a little condescending here?
