Thread Name: Song ID-woman waiting for husband-Scots folk song?
Subject: Song Identification - Help!
Hi, first post here and it's a plea for help. I am racking my brains over identifying a song and am driving myself nuts so hope someone can put me out of my misery here.

I think it's a scots folksong - possibly recorded by the Corries at some point? - and it's about a woman waiting for her husband to return and refusing to marry again. If memory serves me the 'singer/voice' is the one who wants her to marry him and who asks her why she stands and weeps at the shore (of a lake or the sea?).

I'm sorry it's horribly vague but if anyone has any ideas or clues I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Fi

Welcome to the Mudcat, Fi. I've added to your title a bit which will garner more interest than a generic title. I am sure someone will know the song and post it for you, soon.
