thinking about it now, what's so interesting is my mum in her early 20's
was genuinely innocent
and completely unaware of the mechanics of 'intercourse'
right up until mere days before her 'wedding night'.

that was about 1950...

Someone in the family tried to prepare her at the last minute
and discretely handed her a 'medical' illustrated text book on such matters..

.. she read a few pages before completely freaking out in terror
and almost calling off the marriage.. !!!!

Obviously she got calmed down sufficently,
and then spent a good 7 or 8 years of newly married life
gradually then eagerly practicing & learning with my dad
before 1st born me eventually arrived in the late 50's..
