I think with the rise of these thefts it's time for festival organisers to make efforts to make patrons, artists and traders aware that it is happening, at the moment no one seems to want to acknowledge it officially and sadly this means that not enough people are aware of it so this leads to more items of value being available for the thieves to steal in the first place!
Surely this subject warrants an entry in the program, on the website, in the form of a leaflet passed to people at the same time as their complimentary bin bag....... etc?

As I understand it at the Gate to Southwell festival each night, even on the Thursday, not only were people's tents targeted, but various traders too, so no one is above being robbed.

Sadly we're now going to have to treat our camping homes like we do our real ones. The folk world has collided with the real world and the days of being able to say, "Oh it's ok, I'm at a folk festival" are well and truly over.
