I was reminiscing on the "Yorkshire folk clubs 60's and 70's" thread just now about seeing Stefan Sobell at the Leeds University Folk Club in the mid '60s.

Even though it was over 45 years ago, I can still vividly see the bar at Leeds Uni, remember where I was sitting, and can still see Stefan standing up singing and playing "The Golden Vanity".

Other moments which, as Wordsworth wrote, "flash upon that inward eye which is the bliss of solitude" include: the Reverend Gary Davis on stage at Manchester Free Trades Hall in 1965; Carthy & Swarbrick at Lancaster University Folk Club around 1966 (the time of the "Rags, Reels & Airs album) - Sward with ciggie dangling from his lips throughout the evening; Ian Dury & The Blockheads at the old Top Rank Suite in Brighton about 1978; Dave Edmunds and his band at the same venue around the same time... and many others.

All as vivid and clear as if it were yesterday.

Mind you, I'm not sure what happened yesterday!
