In Woody Guthrie's talking dustbowl blues the singer refers to his children as "mighty skinny kids - looked like a tribe of thermometers running around"

In Woody Guthrie's Tom Joad, which is the Grapes of Wrath book put to song, there is starvation and migration therefore, and there is a mention of "the hungry little kids in the jungle camp" but they aren't the singer's own kids.
