Consumer Reports is worth the cost of a trip to the library or of an on-line subscription when doing research on major appliances.

In my small house I use my living room as the office for my private practice, and use what was intended to be the dining area of the kitchen as our den/family room. I really regret not paying a bit more for frig and window AC that rated at or near the top in terms of noise of operations.
