Sometimes, I think that Americans don't "get" the idea of constitutional government. Americans tend to believe more in "majority rule," meaning that whoever can get a majority, can bully the rest of us into anything the majority wants - even to the point of interfering with our pregnancies and personal relationships.

Our much-revered and much-misunderstood Constitution guarantees individual rights that supersede the whims of the majority - but many or most Americans do not understand or accept that.
