I totally understand why they talk at bar performances and at open air events..like Folklife...

It should be a job of the M.C. to say what expectations are and how far away to move if you want to carry on a conversation.

At a concert I would assume silence, butthe M.C. should ask people to turn off cell phones and not talk except during intermissions. Never heard of anyone not like toe tapping before though. It has never bothered me. What if you tried to stop that in Quebec? mg
