I have never known anybody to shave in the portaloo. The water is usually pretty dodgey and there would be a risk of infection. I always wash my hands in my own water bowl. As far as the weather goes, in the last 12 years there has only been one washout in the June event - there have certainly been scorchers in june and washouts tend to occur more often in the September camp.
