After 45 years of hiking, camping, etc in the Delmarva region I have never seen a copperhead. I have seen two rattlesnakes in that time, both in West Virginia. I don't believe anybody needs a snake stick. Now, if you are concerned with unwanted advances by over stimulated Mudcatters, then a stick might be useful to disuade unwanted admirers. (I always carry one for this purpose).
