Subject: RE: NEW at McDonalds--The McSTRIP
That's OK....I made a lot of money working on British cars. Unlike the way I generally refer to my profession by saying that, at least at our shop, we REPAIRED cars....In the case of English cars, we only WORKED on them....No one can FIX a British car. They are designed to be worked on at point A so you can drive to point B where you can do more work before proceeding to C....and of course repeating the process as you return.

Only in a British sports car can you stare at those Smith Instruments and realize that they bear no semblance to the reality of what's happening. Only in a British sports car can you have the thrill of driving through a torrential rain on a dark night and having your lights go out (Joe Lucas says, "Don't go out after dark")....No problem though, the wipers only work when you check them on bright, sunny, days.

Only in a British sports car do you need an enginneering degree to raise the top which leaks like a sieve anyway. (all, but MG especially). Only in a British sports car can you smell hot asbestos and look underneath to find a glowing, white hot, brake rotor located 3 inches from the fuel tank (Jaguar). Only in a British sports car do you need to call a termite inspector for regular frame maintenance (Morgan). Only in a British sports car can you enjoy the pleasures of old time driving with an unsynchronized transmission--doncha' love that grinding sound? (OK, they are FINALLY synchronized after all these years) Only in a British sports car can you find a beautiful and elegant suspension coupled with a puny, underpowered, erratic, FRENCH engine (Lotus) or a brawny and flashy body with a powerplant that sounds worse than a John Deere tractor (Aston-Martin).

Ah, but ya' gotta' love 'em......Anything as quirky as a British sports car also has character, although most folks would prefer comfort and reliability.
