I drove British 4-bangers for years, starting with a Hillman Husky. Then I had a Triumph Spitfire (I never DID get those carbs synchronized properly) and then a Hillman Super Minx with a Sunbeam Alpine engine, side-draft SUs,tuned exhaust and a 4-speed. It would do 90mph in 3rd gear;this was in 1972.
I then bought a ford van which nearly killed me. I was right over the radiator when the upper hose blew. My glasses saved my right eye but I had 2nd and 3rd degree burns over a third of my body. Burns are nasty and they don't stop hurting.

Oh yeah.When I got the Spit, the engine was blown. I rebuilt it in the front yard.
