I never hated them. I just tried to ignore them.

The 2010 bluegrass cover of "Last Train to Clarksville" by the Grascals went high on the BG charts, and for me, that was a reminder of why I never cared much for the Monkees.

At the time, my favorite rock band were the Kinks.
I found that their lyrics had a lot more depth [even for a French speaking person as myself]
