I want to do it. I think the only thing I'm not sure of is when, exactly, my kids are coming home. They said they thought "third week in September," which would be great, but I want to be sure their time here wouldn't extend into the time I'd be gone.

They are coming back with Nikki Kimball, one of the oldest and best friends of both of them: (link)

She and one of her cronies want to attempt a new time record for the Long Trail - all 200-whatever miles of mountain ridges.

Andrea is to be Team Doc, and has asked to borrow the van for that purpose. So I can't commit until I'm sure of their schedule. North Face, the sponsor, wanted her to do it during peak foliage, for the best photo ops. At those altitudes, that would be right around the end of September/beginning of October, the Getaway weekend. But Nikki wants it earlier, so there won't be loose leaves on the trail. I wouldn't think there would be a conflict, but if there is, I want to give them and the record attempt priority.
