My friend and favorite RI folksinger, Joyce Katzberg, posted this on Facebook today

For my friends up north, I will be singing at the Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion State Park in Portsmouth, NH, on Saturday, July 30th from 12:30 - 1:30 as part of the "Arts Encounter Preservation, 2011" show. My Friend, Allison Newsome is curating an art exhibit featuring 33 very talented artists. For more information, see the link. I hope to see some of you there. :-)

Joyce is a versatile performer with a voice that is both beautiful and strong. Several years ago she organized a Providence Rosalie Sorrels tribute concert that was recorded by WGBH. Joyce sings a variety of folk songs, included some of her original compositions. Mostly I think of her as a singer of songs of peace and social justice, though she often tailors her set list for certain events. I can't go to this concert. I will be at the Newport Folk Festival for which I bought tickets months ago, but if you can go you could become one of her new friends up north.
