Dan, something shallow in shape like the lid of a traditional metal trash can is perfect. Or those big shallow dishes that you put under potted plants. It doesn't have to be a bird bath, but you do need to give some time for discovery.

Bill D's site says you can't fry an egg, so I guess I'm going to have to see if I can prove those attempts wrong. The skillet is going out on the pavement now. Pics to follow.
