We had a dog named Schooner. All the kids grew up with him. The boys fed him pickles and let him sit on the couch. He and my Dad were best friends. And he died the same month and year as my Dad on Becca's 16th birthday. I haven't had the heart to get another. But every time I see a Golden Retriever I see a bit of Schooner in them
