Subject: RE: BS: how much bullshit hides in your text?
It seems mine was only one sentence. ...

In one of my freshman weekly essays on some great piece of literature, I composed a "long sentance," and knew that the instructor had a particular penchant for slamming long sentences. I was unable to break down the long sentence and retain the meaning I wanted to convey, so I delerately wrote a "clumsy long sentence" of about 20 words into the top of the first page.

The instructor (or his "grader") pounced on the first clumsy long sentence with great vigor, but failed to notice that the other half of the first page and the following two pages all consisted of a single sentence. In the "really long sentence" he actually marked two places with "needs expansion" or something similar, so apparently he did read it.

And at the bottom he commented "nice penmanship."

Recollection is that out of curiosity I counted the words and came up with about 890 words in one sentence. Haven't really needed to write anything similar since that book taught me that most "philosophy" is all bullshit. (It was either Hume or Kant, but I don't really recall which.)
