From the skipping point of view the trunk/boot would be a poor place to put it as it would be directly over the rear axle. Best position would be at the midpoint between the axles and in the centre of the car (point with least up and down movement). However, from a security point of view this position would be foolish. Trust to the anti-skip electronics being good enough and mount it in the trunk.
