Dorothy, I would love for it to get down to 75o here, it would feel heavenly compared to 111o. It wasn't as bad today, only about 105o. (Isn't that pathetic?) It hasn't been below about 83o at night for the last three weeks.

Moonglow came by with a couple of friends on her way back to school from a convention down in San Antonio. She finally picked up the towel I've had sitting here forever for her, and she brought by some of my favorite country-style sausage from a restaurant in Temple, Texas, that is a regular stop along that stretch of highway. Not much else I like in that town (we lived there 8 years), but I do like the Mikeska's barbecue place and their sausage. Lots of cracked black pepper in it, I'm convinced that is what makes it so good. (There are several brothers in that family with barbecue restaurants all over Hill Country, but this one is the best of the lot.)

Her Dad also came over and we all had a visit for a while and I got out a fillet of salmon (in a vacuum pack) from last xmas that my brother sent, too much for me to eat by myself, so I waited until I had company. And because we'd been talking about the garden, I pulled some of last fall's okra from the freezer and made a little batch of fried okra. My carbs for the day are the little bit of corn and flour breading on the outside. I've been good, keeping it do the level they recommend. So day one is past.

It's only Monday. Long week ahead. I wish it would cool down so I could enjoy some of this summer. Every day can be torture if you focus on the heat, so we have to find ways to avoid thinking about it, or just go out anyway and ignore it. And be quick and early about whatever it was you had to do outside.

Dying for the new keyboard to get here. This one is so squishy, I'm always backspacing to catch goofs.
