Thread Name: Tune Req: Forever Autumn (Jeff Wayne)
Subject: Lyr/Chords Add: FOREVER AUTUMN (Jeff Wayne)
I just whipped it out and dashed off a few chords. This is more filk, since it is from Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War Of The Worlds. A quirky concept album from 1978, I rushed right out and ordered it when I found it had been rereleased on CD. Richard Burton is the Journalist/Narrator, Julie Covington as Beth( Covington starred in BBC's "Little Ladies" which also had Rula Lenska - the actress Americans had never heard of when she did a shampoo commercial). Covington also recorded the first (and best) "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina before the show ever staged. David Essex is the Artilleryman and Phil Lynott plays Parson Nathaniel. Other musicians include Justin Hayward and Chris Thompson. Credits for the song are Gary Osborne and Paul Vigrass. It is written in Dm but you may find Em easier. The second line is a simple walkdown where you hold your 1st finger on the C (2nd string) and play the C, Em and Am. Good luck with it.

FOREVER AUTUMN

(Em) The summer sun is fading as the (D) year grows old, (C) And (Em/C) darker (Am) days are (Em) drawing (D) near. The (C) winter (D7) winds will be much (Am) colder, (D) Now you're not (Em) here.

(Em) I watch the birds fly south across the (D) autumn sky, (C) And (Em/C)one by (Am) one they (Em) disa(D)ppear. (C) I wish that (D7) I was flying (Am) with them, (D) Now you're not (Em) here.

(C) Like the (G) sun through the (Dm) trees you came to (Em) love me, (C) Like a (G) leaf on a (Dm) breeze you blew (Em) away,

Through autumn's golden gown we used to kick our way, You always loved this time of year. Those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now, (D) 'cause you're not (Em) here, 'cause you're not (D) here, 'cause you're not (Em) here...
