People seem to have a hard time believing that anything is truly random. They tend to think something they did caused it.

I used to work in an office where the system would frequently crash. Of course, everyone's computer would go offline at exactly the same time, but people wouldn't notice it right away. Your screen looks normal; you don't notice anything is wrong until you try to submit something, which might be several minutes later. This creates the illusion that everything was working perfectly right up until the moment you submitted something, so naturally you have a tendency to think that whatever you submitted was what caused the system to crash. It's all an illusion. It might have nothing to do with you.
