Our dog walk this morning was in the 86 degree dawn light. The weather outlook shows that Saturday MIGHT top out at 99, then it's back up to the 100-102 range. It is slowly lowering, but the "average" daily temperature remains quite warm since it isn't cooling as much at night.

I picked up a portable hard drive for moving my scanned files back and forth, only to find that this one is 32-bit only and my computer is 64-bit. Gotta swap that out today. (Things that can be put off till cooler weather are, when possible. When you compare notes down here you'll find a lot of people just don't go to the store even though they need things because it means getting out of the car one more time.)

I am cutting out breads and sugar in my diet, though as I go through the day I'm trying to make sure that I get some carbs just for normal brain health, but keeping it down under about 50 grams a day. I decided not to try the first two weeks cold turkey the way the book suggests because I have to do some driving in that time and won't be able to stop at places that always have the food requirements. I'll get close, but won't push it. I am getting a walk of about 30 minutes in the mornings with the dogs. Their weight is in great shape!

The basics are getting done, but this heat not only drains your energy, it saps your enthusiasm for taking on anything beyond the minimum daily activity. I'm so ready for fall - I crave sweater weather. I was at a potluck yesterday and my boss and I were talking about that point - when you step outside and it feels good with just a hint of cool, that you're okay as is but a sweater feels perfect - that is what we crave.
