I'm not sure if this belongs in this thread but thought I'd pass it along anyway.

My husband was telling me this morning that because of the high heat out west and drought that the price for beef is expected to drop for the next week or two (maybe a little bit longer) but then is expected to go sky high. If you have room in your freezer or do any pressure canning, now might be a good time to stock up a little bit.

There is a site online that tracks hunger issues in our state. Last year at this time, 10% of households reported having trouble being able to supply their family with enough food. This year has just about doubled....and that is for households with children. Single households report even higher numbers. And the prices keep going up.
