Mah! Bein' a sedate suthun belle, itz rathuh ahkcitin to have spauked such debate.

It's rather interesting to me the assumptions that have been made based on what, two sentences? The outpouring of anger and resentment from the anonymous poster is both daunting and amusing, and I appreciate the voices of reason that came forth in the aftermath.

Just kind of fyi for anyone still reading this thread, I'm studying the relationship between oral spiritual traditions as music and the history of spritual practices of people that would best be described as pagan, or earth based. Loreena McKennit's music seems to be strongly influenced by Celtic musical tradition and certainly by pagan beliefs.

As for the study itself, it is incredibly slow going. I was offered a great job that consumes so much of my time that I am only now considering going back to school. It's been almost completely off the burners since my last posting.

One of the things I love about this forum is the level of musical education people bring here. You're knowledgeable, and I come here to compensate for my personal lack there. My apologies to anyone who is offended by my interpretation of Loreena as "folk", and daring to raise her name in what some seem to consider a sacred forum. As a musician whose education is sorely limited, I consider folk music to be about people, not about musical style. And I believe that's partially why it got the name it did. It was played by regular people, who were just uneducated folks, who only knew what they liked, and did not ascend to be scholars.

As such, sign me folksy, and bid me adieu.

P.S. I like her music. Some of it a lot. ;)
